What we offer

An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart at rest. It can help assess heart rhythm and may form part of a clinically appropriate health or symptom review.

• Resting 12-lead ECG recording.
• Safety triage before booking.
• Appropriate clinician-review or result-explanation route where required.

Why you may need this service

• Palpitations or awareness of heart rhythm where non-urgent
• Raised blood-pressure or cardiovascular risk discussion
• Part of a preventive package or clinical review
• Baseline rhythm check where clinically appropriate

Your appointment guide

Before you book

• Tell us why you are requesting an ECG and any symptoms you are experiencing.
• Bring relevant previous ECGs, letters or referral information where available.

How to prepare

• Wear clothing that allows access to the chest area.
• Tell us if you need a chaperone, interpreter or reasonable adjustment.

At the appointment

Small adhesive electrodes are placed on the chest and limbs while you lie still. The recording itself is quick and painless.

How long it takes

A short appointment; time is confirmed through the booking route.

Results and next steps
