DEXA Scan
Private DEXA scanning in Fulwood, Preston for osteoporosis, osteopenia and sarcopenia assessment and fracture-risk monitoring
What we offer
A DEXA scan uses low-dose X-rays to measure bone density and muscle mass. It is commonly used to assess osteoporosis risk, monitor bone health and support fracture-risk assessment.
At Elixier Diagnostics, DEXA scanning is focused on clinically appropriate bone health assessment. The scan is quick, non-invasive and does not involve injections or enclosed scanning tunnels.
The result is interpreted alongside your age, sex, risk factors, fracture history, medicines and other clinical information. A DEXA result is one part of the wider bone-health picture.
Why you may need this service
• Osteoporosis assessment
• Monitoring low bone density or previous osteopenia / osteoporosis
• Assessment after fragility fracture or significant risk factors
• Bone-health review where long-term steroid use, early menopause or other clinical risks are present
• Follow-up where a clinician has requested repeat bone density assessment
